If you cable to have a 300 amp capacity, then why do it?

How can you only have a 30' (twice the one-way, +/-) from the alternator?
If you are trying to use the forward bank as a back-up to your main set, you need to be a carefull with wire size. if you are just trying to charge the forward set with the alternator, then you should simply set it up as a seperate bank with its own switch, etc.
