I'm still on my first boat so I don't have that experience myself. The previous owner of my boat raced with me for the first year that I owned it. At the end of the year he said he was very glad to see that someone was going to be looking after the boat.

Perhaps the new owner of the Islander will sell to someone more interested in maintaining the boat.
