STILL -- With the thin screens that are now around, it is an interesting demonstration of alternative NAV Station layouts.
With all the split screen and other window displays, you could see (shudder to think what might happen) two large video displays with windows for various instrument or read-out components. Then, it you have an electronic or electrical gliche where you lose, or have to reduce, power consumption -- you'd have all the capablities of dingy. ;^)))
While I have a relatively plethora of power hungery systems (with a bunch of redundancy), I like those systems to be linked, but pretty standalone themselves. I have had situations where I cut power consumption down to save batteries or generator/engine from time-to-time.
