I have been wheedling over whether to try to go down the Sounds or just give up and go around Hatteras. I have found the recent surveys of the channels east of Roanoke, I think I might just squeak through there. One of the attractions is Kitty Hawk (being a pilot and all). It looks like there is a ramp or marina there for small craft. Has anyone anchored there and gone ashore to see the area? With my 6.5' draft I might not be able to get real close in.

I finally got the boat launched again, if I get the autopilot fixed tonight I am off with the morning tide to Norfolk, be there a couple of weeks and then head south. I have to fly home for Christmas, and the wife (a Stanford alum) has gone and purchased Rose Bowl tickets....
