Blye- you brought back some memories to me as well ! I chartered from John and Penny Spencer as well back in the 70's . Their operation was was small but Hatchet Bay was a convenient jumping off spot for the Exumas. We chartered a 30 foot Columbia, I believe. In those days Cape Eleuthera was thriving and we spent a day at their resort, then over to Ship Channel Cay and the Exumas chain. Remember Harold Albury over at Highbourne Cay as well before that became such an "in" spot. That trip was so much fun that I decided to sail my own boat down for the winter several years after chartering from the Spencers.
