Once again is is nice to have a Professional Mariner on the board.

Jon, thanks for once again keeping tabs on the sailing world and passing along really good information.

The rolling on a dis-masted boat in those seas must have been horrible. We don't have the Gulf Stream on the Left Coast but we can get rough conditions off the Columbia River. After just a couple of hours getting out I am pretty wiped out. 12 hours!? then 12 more?

Their write-up is terrific. Honest and factual. When I wanted to add AIS capability I bought a combined radio and instead of replacing the one at the nav station I put it in the cockpit with an antenna on the stern-mounted radar mast. That makes 1 redundancy but after reading their story I think I need to spend some serious brain time on thinking of what else can go wrong.
