Sad to read about the slow rebuilding efforts, and how many folks have permanently given up trying to live there. I'm sure it is a deep and possibly lifelong scar for many.

I was surprised to learn this week that our house insurer will not let us rent our house out next year. Apparently because of Superstorm Sandy, homes with 'coastal exposure' won't pass their 'wind analysis'. Bottom line, we can keep the policy we currently have, but if we try to change it in any way it opens up a can of worms because of their experience with Sandy. So I may end up mothballing the house, and will likely install a frost protection heater in the cellar along the lines that Tom posted recently.
