There are lots of choices of software that will track what you've read, but none that provide this kind of thread display. We had to write a custom forum for the TSBB to keep this.

That said, you should dig into your browser preferences and extend the length of time your browser keeps your history. Even in this forum, as long as it keeps history you should see a blue link for an unread post and a dark grey link for read.
