Yes, I agree with the insurance issue.
my guess is that even if they had dissolving plugs the stuff in them may act as floatation.
That is scary....the tip of the iceberg....

Had a similar discussion recently...
Several of my sailing friends here had the same comments
Wow, In 6 minutes, they just lost most of their cargo.
