My experience with NOAA weather in the Bahamas is that ...

it's pretty much useless. In fact, i would categorize it was borderline dangerous. They usually aren't even close, and that includes the NOAA reports from Carolyn & Nick with BASRA in Nassau. We do have an SSB, I listen to Chris Parker in the mornings, I subscribe to him, so I can just listen in or he can route me … I think he is the best source available for the Bahamas, and he gets specific for certain areas of the Bahamas, although certainly not perfect all the time. You might ask another boat whenever you can who has an SSB and can they give you what Parker said. Marsh Harbour has an excellent weather report on the VHF Net in the morning, that can be heard from Green Turtle to Pete's Pub. I think you can also get Barometer Bob on WiFi. And another good weather source once you get close to GT on the VHF morning Net. Other than that, June at Staniel Cay used to be great, but she no longer does weather. Highbourne Cay does, but they simply rely on NOAA, and the info isn't all that good.

Chris … I'm curious … how accurate did you find Parker so far this trip ? Always difficult predicting weather in the Bahamas.

Cheers, John
