These missives are really great, thanks … Find yourself a really nice looking conch shell ...

… probably bigger is better. I've found the bigger ones, the sound resonates more, more deep, and takes less wind from your lungs. Can be one already extracted and cleaned, in fact probably better. And if that's the case, you need to patch the hole on the third knuckle where the captor broke the shell with his hammer to release the mussel of the conch from the shell. I use MarineTex, but any stiff epoxy slurry will work. Make sure to patch this completely, no air can escape. Take a hacksaw or a Dremel and saw off the crown point, this will be a bit of trial & error, a little bit the first time so you can see the opening. You will be amazed how hard the shell is, or maybe my saw is really dull. You don't want the opening to the innerds too big, maybe about the size of a dime. Again trial & error will get you where you want to be, do you want treble or do you want base ? Once you get it where you want, take the Dremel and round the outside & inside of this circle cut to get nice & smooth, what you want is something like the mouthpiece of a bugle. This is where you will blow into. Hold it like you would a bugle, with your fingers inside the shell and the last, smooth turn of the shell in your palm. It takes a bit to get it, the first tries will be frustrating, but it will come. You want to pucker up your lips, just like you are blowing on a bugle. Good luck, I'll expect to hear a nice long brust from Anomaly from Conception soon ! Cheers, John
