I figured I would share this with everyone. Perhaps it's just me but one of the things that is NOT on my regular maintenance inspection list is to pull all the instrument transducers and inspect the O-ring seals. This winter is trying to say the least, too cold to do many of the projects I had planned, but that doesn't mean I won't wade through the drifts to go sit on the boat. This past weekend I was vacuuming out the lockers and took a close look at the knot meter sender, damned if the O-rings didn't crumble in my hand! They were hard and brittle and likely would have been a medium size leak when we went in the water. The depth transducer requires pulling apart a few things to get to but will also get inspected this coming weekend.
