Hey Tom,
I have mixed feelings about this, though of course it's none of my business, to begin with... (grin) His boat, his dream, he can do whatever he wants, but I'd prefer to hear he'd simply decided to go off cruising, instead...
I certainly hope he's successful in making it all the way around, but at the same time I'd prefer to see Dodge Morgan's 'record' of a 150 day passage stand... I think these sort of record attempts defined by parameters such as "oldest person", or "smallest boat" and so on, are a bit silly, and lie more in the category of 'stunts'... And, while I applaud his effort to rely as much as possible on renewable energy technology, to consider a circumnavigation on a multimillion-dollar fiberglass boat to be a completely "Green" trip around the planet seems a bit of a stretch, to me...
Hopefully, he'll rig a preventer when sailing downwind, next time... (grin)
best regards,
Jon
