Local Maine culture isn't well documented. Burt and I is total fiction. You can get the real stuff in well researched books, mostly fiction, of Maine island life. I think it's important for cruisers to have some background to who that guy really is in the lobster boat going by.
These comics aren't a documentary of Maine island life, but the kid that creates them is a Mainer(who's seen a lot of the world) and a keen observer. My whole family finds them a riot(we've lived a bit of this), even if there's a lot of 'cussin'.
