Even with the 73* high yesterday we are still not ice free. I was checking from my back deck yesterday and can still only see white out to the tree line in Canada. It was very odd to see one of the Lakers out in the middle of all that. It was moving slowly West so it must not be a solid ice pack any more. The U.S. and Canadian ice breakers have been out for a week breaking a shipping channel to the upper great lakes. Two of the 1,000 footers wintered at our local shipyard and left last weekend with some help.
