One of my wood spreaders failed just outside the stainless socket too

() I noticed it one spring while giving them their annual two coats of varnish. My hardwood supplier had some nice clear Sitka spruce on hand, brought in for some local instrument builders.

- OUCH!!!! But they sure did a beautiful job with it afterwards
