() That repair looked like a 'pour' job. I suspect they didn't remove all the punky wood before doing the pour (making it a poor job?) leaving weak wood above and below. Proper fix would have scarfed in a piece of new wood with nice tapers, using the epoxy as an adhesive rather than a filler.
