I really like Atlantis ...

… that probably sounds odd from someone who doesn't like crowded anchorages, or Georgetown in February or March. But you're right, you would have been better off at Atlantis, tons to do. I know the old timers like the Nassau Harbour Club and the Yacht Haven, which are fun places to be too. But yeah, we treat ourselves at $4/ft to one of the most outside slips at Atlantis every now & then. We're all the way outside by the heliport, right at the entrance to the Harbour, there is always a breeze there and total protection if it's nasty. Very quiet out there, no bugs, we get a full nights sleep, and these slips are small, they won't take anything larger than 50 feet or so, so you get real, (nice) people for neighbors. Which you will not be cozy anchored in the Harbour, just about everyone I know who has anchored in the Harbour hates it, and drags. Everything is free, great showers, great laundry, TV if you want that, Internet. A free newspaper in the morning and free golf cart rides whenever and wherever you want. And if you're checking in and cleaning customs, these folks are more than incredibly friendly and come right to the boat, within 30 minutes of arrival. Free use of the grounds, so if you have a child which we do, that is HUGE. Free pools, water slides, hot tubs, free movies and so on. We've spent a few crummy days floating the Lazy River sipping cocktails all day long. Incredibly nice people. If Jackie is still there at the Marina Office, she could not be more helpful and pleasant, and she takes to the time to get to know you. Let's face it, it's fun to walk the docks at night and check out the action and the mega yachts. And Cuban rolled cigars. If you do snag one of those slips on the very outside, there is a pool & hot tub, plus shuffleboard and snack bars right over the hedge, very convenient. Walking on Paradise Island is far more enjoyable walking than in town to me. Sure, town must be done, once. So, for $160/night, very much worth it for us.

WOW, 185nm in less than 24 hours. GOOD for you. We've done that exact same trip a bunch, except veering off for Ft. Pierce and Vero at the end, takes us well over 24 hours, more like 36. I like the NW Providence Channel at night. Yes, there is big ship traffic, but with AIS easily manageable and a bit comforting at night to see some action around, people to talk to every now & then, and a nice ride home. You are correct, with choppy seas, this route way more comfortable than over the Bank, which probably would shave been miserable.

Thanks for all the posts along the way, sounds like you had a nice trip. Cheers, John
