In Response To: 1965 was the beginning of the end for CCA keel/centerboard distance racers. ()
Finesterre won the Newport-Bermuda Race in 1956, 1958 and 1960...which was many years before the first running of the Marion Race (in 1977, I believe). For some, this may speak to the merits, or lack thereof, in the design of racing yachts since the demise of the CCA rule.
