These boats are lightly used compared to full time cruisers like yours. Seasonal coastal sailing and often(like these posted) quite a bit of racing. But many of the owners want new tech in all areas. Two good ideas on a Nevins 40 yawl. A stack of instruments in a box instead of cut into the cabin.
The other one is the port. It doesn't open to hand out the Grey Poupon, nobody is ever below with both slides in the companionway so it's not used for the view. Why then? I'll bet you someone long ago blasted holes in the bulkhead for the first instruments, speedo/log likely.
Unlike fiberglass, there's no repairing those holes to look right. But that port may be cleaning up and old mess.
