In Newport RI, I expected to see boats launching in droves. In fact, getting boats ready to launch looked as delayed as it is in my harbor. Here's a young guy, roller in hand, getting to know more about boats than he probably wants to.
We did a little anchor shopping. Would have taken this one, but Mary Ann thought it was too rusty.
There's more to Newport than boats, so we toured the Breakers. What a dismal joint. I love old buildings of all economic class, but this place is soul less. Poorly designed as a display of wealth only, it's dark inside with cloying tapestries on the walls and hideous oversized thoughtless rooms. Depressing space.
The only redeeming part was in the kitchen where nice windows and light flooded a wonderful bright airy cooks kitchen that would still work perfectly today! I couldn't take a photo inside, that's silly too. Why? Who would ever build that albatross again?
