Ours was only an 8 footer, but we never needed wheels.

The deflatables NEEDED them as they had to land on the sand. Or they would anchor off and swim in.

When we were in places that had any surf we would look to the sides of the sand. We always found that closer to the rocks (not in the rocks) was less surf and we could land safely. Never did worry about punching a hole in it.

We did mount 2 cleats on the aft transom. We made up a lifting sling from a set of truck tie downs for night storage (EVERY NIGHT) in case of winds. I attached the front tie down under the forward seat on the metal support, and the aft to the added cleats.
