First try heating up some water and getting the pot warm/hot before making your coffee; a cold pot sucks the heat out of the coffee. To avoid wasting too much hot water..heat up the water put it in the pot for a minute back on the stove to a boil again then coffee and press. Worth a try..do it at home..see if it helps.
