Boats, pffft. A Widows Walk is a maintenance nightmare!

15 years ago, I designed and built this widows walk on/in the roof of our old 3 story house.

It needed some serious work this year(lot's of wood rot-inside and out). I considered tearing it off and roofing over, but my family wouldn't hear of it. I couldn't do it either. Up in the trees is a special place. Except for the occasional noisy Goose that is startled by people up here, it's very private.

Truth is, this old house is very similar to our old boat. It takes a lot of work but the rewards of each, are unique.

This second take-all redesigned and new- is a more serious defense against the elements I now know exist, 'up here'. Post caps, a few details including a new boat skylight hatch cover(built of plastic wood!), this will outlast me, for sure.

Now it's time to remove the cover on the boat, and breath a sigh of relief.
That is, if it ever stops raining, and warms up.
