At first I thought I hooked something in the rudder. I've gotten to know this boat under sail for many years and miles. I can't recall lee helm with the main up, in any wind.
Maybe it was a fluke, but technically, could I have moved my center of effort forward enough to create the slight lee helm in the light conditions?
I set the foot loose, halyard tension light, centerboard down, 135% tell tales flowing evenly. Speed was great in the light air! Big improvement. I will sail in less wind with the new main(my main hope).
Pointing, I couldn't really tell as the bay current was strong and + on one tack, - on the other tack. Foot tension especially, will take time to get the most out of the sail.
After a couple tacks, we went onto a fast reach and headed east, down the coast. This puzzle may take a while, but it's why I love to sail.
