Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Our thoughts......

AND ONLY OURS! YMMV

We have the asym and a big drifter and our 130/140 reefeable jib. No roller furling.

The jib can be used in most wind conditions we saw, even in the light winds with reduced efficiency.

The drifter can be use in light conditions + a bit

The Asym can ONLY be used in very light conditions. Also, the hoop in the sock is rather large so in the bag it takes up more than it's fair share of space on our small boat.

So, the actual time it is usable is very small, AND it's a pain to fly for a couple (cruising) and requires constant attention by the driver.

SOOOOOooo, for us the actual time we could use it was very small compared to the other sails.

NOW, on a crewed boat, day sailing or racing, it's a FUN sail! But we think it just does not pay it's own way.

Having said all that, I DO LOVE the looks of it!!!
