Also, any wooden boat (cold molded or carvel) is a VERY hard sell in the used market. To have that sort of boat built you have to be prepared to lose 70-90% of your investment on resale. With a glass boat you might be looking at a depreciation of only 40-50%, still not trivial, but a lot better than with a wood boat. I wasn't suggesting that anyone buy a new Hinckley (they will build you a SW42, SW52, SW70 or their new Bermuda 50) or Morris (their ocean series are nice solid boats) unless you are ready to spend $1,000,000+. My suggestion was to buy an older boat and refit it. Hinckleys built up until about 83 are premium quality boats and Morris yachts built before 2000 are top quality. An older boat can be refit quite comprehensibly for not all that much and you end up with a top quality boat in effectively new condition for a lot less money than a new boat
