Hey Chris,
Well, technically, no... But, given how friendly and welcoming to visitors the folks up here are, they sure are diligent about securing their wifi networks, this is the first time I've scored an open signal in weeks... In the handful of places I've been where there actually are other humans, that is...
Right now I'm tied up adjacent to the fish plant in St Marys Harbour, near Battle Harbour in southern Labrador... The weather has turned pretty foul, I've had nothing but headwinds and heavy fog the past few days... After this low moves across Newfoundland, I should catch a break and be able to ride a NE-N breeze down thru the Strait of Belle Isle, and on down the west coast for a bit. I was really hoping to make a stop at Battle Harbour tomorrow, sounds like an interesting place, but I may be compelled to take advantage of the weather, we shall see... At any rate, I probably won't be in Baddeck for about another week or so, then will probably dawdle there and on the Lake for a few days...
Labrador has been nothing short of awesome, what a place... Unfortunately, the sailing for the most part has sucked. Not too bad heading north, but the trip back down has been pretty tough, and with a lot of motoring... But I made it as far north as Hebron - a place I've always wanted to see - and then further on to Saglek Fiord and the Torngat Mountains...
Lucked out with a beautiful day on the one I ran the 25 miles up into Saglek. Impossible to convey the scale of the fiords up there, and a wide angle lens only reduces it... In an attempt to give some sense of it, keep in mind that the peak directly behind the boat, at the fork of the North and Southwest Arms of the fiord, is still just short of SIX MILES distant...
Keep posting as to your whereabouts, perhaps I'll still catch up... How much longer to you think before you might make the crossing back over to Maine?
Enjoy the rest of your trip, and best regards,
Jon
