While I have a voyaging boat, it seems that those that I choose to sail with prefer "a three hour cruise" vice the long journey. Much of the racing I do (not on my boat) is essentially day sailing. One design stuff on a short fast course.
Admittedly I dream of sailing afar, but I enjoy just the act of sailing such that a day sail is pleasure enough. And thus I avoid the logistics of provisioning and other tasks.
Truth be told however I am constantly working on the boat... enjoying just that time doing maintenance and repair on her, tackling one one issue then another, while simply "messing about."
My voyages thus far tend to be short length and more of the nature of "learning the ropes." I have skills yet to acquire, that no doubt, some learned in their youth.
So often, my destination tends to be "to go sailing."
