I had a roofing company price a new roof recently. A tricky roofing project on an old house with limited access. No simple ladder points. What they really needed to do is see the various details for pricing. It took a couple of visits, they saw some parts and and assumed the condition of a few areas.
It's a large company with many employees, trucks, gear, office, etc. Their quote was just under 20,000. which seemed quite high to me. I've worked with them before but didn't take the quote. I'll get it done cost +. I know the roof and building so I have a good sense of the difficulty.
In the scheme of things that little camera with an experienced pilot would have saved them a lot of time and may have gotten them the job as I think they over estimated the difficulty by not doing a reasonable study of the situation. Quotes are a gamble. The more info you have, the less either side has to lose.
Plus in the scheme of boat gizmos, I bet we'll see some of these on the more extravagant boats out there. Could have some use for looking for anchor room in crowded block island, or say, getting a close up of somebody's daughter in Pulpit Harbor, so the yachts crew can decide to go introduce themselves.
