There is not a good place to anchor since i) the closed, and ii) then a storm opened-up Katmama Bay near Edgartown.

My advice: You might get a mooring. Tuesday (since MLK Day is Monday the 19th -- even in Edgartown) , Call the Harbour Master and, get your credit card out.
Newport has a really wonderful fireworks show. We've seen it from a mooring in the harbor years ago --- really magical.
