It's a surprisingly good anchorage in the prevailing winds. The scenery is beautiful from there looking across the Sound. It's one of my favorite places to dinghy sail. Great holding and the current seems to make it quite flat. Even the heavy boat traffic wakes seem minimal. Very central and right on some of the best beaches(both sides of the anchorage) on the Cape.

On the other hand, the moorings felt more isolated, but the only choice if the weather demands. We have even anchored just off the mooring field inside(not in Katama). You're not supposed to but we spent a good night with our board up just outside the channel.
