Last night we were the only boat at Conception. What a treat that is. We anchored in that tiny slot between coral patches in the NE corner, perfectly comfortable with no swells in a NE wind. This morning we dinghied through the extensive salt water creeks scaring and chasing sea turtles and small sharks. They're much faster than our 2 hp outboard. There are very strong north then east winds in the forecast so, to avoid rolly anchorages, we sailed down to Rum Cay and are anchored off the town of Port Nelson. The stores are empty a week after the last mail boat visit. Tomorrow they'll be full again. We need provisions. The Sumner Point Marina is closed, officially, but the sand bar that had been blocking the entrance has been removed. We'll probably go in and tie up there tomorrow to sit out the 30 knot winds that are threatened. If the mailboat hadn't just come by, we might have sailed back to Salt Pond tomorrow. As it is, we'll probably be able to hang out here then be back to Conception for a few days. One of the other two boats here at Rum is Sir Martin, a luxury sailing megayacht bound for Haiti. Go figure.
