Everybody gets the 'Rocks' mixed up. These photos are by Benjamin Magro, a great local photographer that flies a helicopter for these aerials. They're on the web low res. so I guess they're fair game. These beautiful shots are for sale in large prints.
Rockland is the most protected harbor in this area of the Western coast. The breakwater that protects the harbor can be seen in the upper right. The prevailing winds put everyone on this coast on a beam reach, 'Downeast'(exit right-from the photo below). I find that wind direction - to geography, is what makes this sailing area so unique.
Rockport(red arrow) and Camden Harbors(yellow arrow), are natural clefts cut into the granite. Beyond(green arrow) is about where Belfast lies near the head of Penobscot Bay where the Penobscot River flows to Bangor.
