Just as an FYI to anyone interested, following up the post above.
I got my table fixed locally. There were two chewed corners like this, and the repair place quoted $120. They said it was a bigger job than expected and they had to fit new wood and re-route the entire circumference and refinish. If you look closely you can see the line where the new section was fitted, but it's undetectable unless you're looking for it. They also fixed some minor surface scratches etc. Bottom line they never asked for more money, and when I offered they said proudly that they stick to their quotes. I shoved some extra 20's into the owner's hand, and she accepted reluctantly. A business like this deserves references -- they're located in Port Chester NY so PM me if you're interested.
