Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Interesting article and some features are coming out.

I didn't know the B50 had a lifting board with a bulb. 6'6" goes down to 11'6". Broad as a small barn, it's drawn on the new racer template which not only is a speed sled but it allows the volume for 3 state rooms, 2 heads, air conditioning, a real pad.

One question: How much can you load up one of these sleds and still get the stunning performance the wide beamy hulls can achieve?

2 mil. for a second home on the water is dirt cheap!

Had to laugh at the remark about the DS 42:

"The DS42 is an older, less performance-oriented design, but the boats still provide enjoyable performance for the sailor who wants an afternoon or weekend out on the water without putting their racing shoes on."

How quickly we forget the radical daysailer design phase. It was a 'sailing light' idea that left the heavy cruising boat idea in the museum of sailing. The B50 is the new idea-racing cruiser!!!(not to be confused with the anachronism-'cruiser-racer'
