I do it about the same way and get two years per tarp.

I go even steeper but still occasionally catch snow along the toe rail. Usually the wind just shakes it off but if it's wet, it can freeze.

Easy for me to clear it as I get to it nearly every day walking the dogs. I wanted to try a white tarp but last I checked, they didn't have them in 30x50's.

Of all the covers I've used, including shrinkwrap, this keeps the boat the dryest. Plus you can roll up one end or the other in the early spring to do some work, roll it back over at night.
