I have been shrinking the last three boats and most of the time it is a total pain(the first one was easy, I was spoiled). The biggest problem is that the October timeframe is also a weather transition. IF you get a nice day with little or no wind, things go well, but if the breeze kicks up or it starts to drizzle you are done for the day. When you heat up the shrink wrap it gets soft, if the wind is blowing it can blow it out. I can get two years but the second year is always a lousy fit.
I have also used tarps, but they are the Harbor Freight variety and last one season. TD, can you give a little more info about the Hamilton tarps?? That looks and sounds like the alternative I have been looking for.
We did have a canvas winter cover for one of the Catalinas. It was HEAVY but sure did a nice job. Almost impossible for one person to put on.
Very few, if any, Faircloughs around here. There is a company based out of Buffalo that does something similar but they use more of a vinyl materials that almost looks like upholstery fabric. They make the frame, the cover, put it on for you in the fall, then come take it off in the spring and store it in Buffalo. Nice looking but expensive.
