"Captain Jim's Marine Salvage and Nautical Antiquities" is a MUST visit!

I stopped in to Captain Jim's this past Saturday, and was amazed at all the used marine items they have for sale! I saw everything from used sails, to Yanmar engines, to self tailing winches, and a lot more. Sort of a one stop shop for a boater looking to save some money upgrading some of their boat's parts. There were some lobstermen in there this Saturday picking up some deck hatches for a boat they're building. There's something for everyone, not just sailors. Excellent pricing as well, at least half the cost of buying new! There were a lot of people in the store this Saturday, and it was pretty neat talking to other anxious boaters who can't wait to get geared up for the season. I was talking with the owners, who are both captains, this weekend and it seems they're in the boat hauling business and decommissioning of unwanted boats, then re-selling the quality parts. Pretty cool way to recycle an old junk boat, and keep another sailing. We've needed a marine salvage store like this in Portland for a long time now, and I'm glad we finally have one! They have a clean, professional facility, just a few blocks from the waterfront over on Presumpscott St.! I'd encourage you to stop buy one Saturday, or give them a call! Their number is (207) 712-4053.
