I don't keep records of what I do on the boat(or anything hardly...), but in a way I do. Photo files are dated. In 2000(lower photo), I did a bunch of brightwork over that winter, in a warm shop. Note worthy, because that's when I wooded and re varnished my two overhead hatches.
They've given 15 years of perfect service with no covers, since. The Lexan(new in 2000) is a little clouded but I'll spruce it up a bit with cleaners and wax(so I've read). No leaks-the 3/8" polycarbonate slabs came off easily running a putty knife around the edge(silicone, worked great). Pulled the hardware off, stripped them of 25 coats of varnish(10 initial-1 per season since-15 minute job), sanded with 80 grit, and have 2 of 10 coats on already. It took a few hours to get to this point, but it's very rewarding work, restoration.
When I consider that the hatches are 54 years old and will soon look like new, it doesn't seem like that much work at all. Looks like they'll outlast me.
