Damn, this cruising thing is getting dangerous... Boats are sinking everywhere, it seems...

Forget about the recent events in the North Atlantic this winter... How about the Cruiser's Paradise to be found in Panama's San Blas Islands? The Caribbean Safety and Security Net reports that FOUR yachts have been lost there so far this year!

Last Friday evening, a 55' Beneteau sank off the Big Sur coast of California, the crew taken off by a CG helo out of San Francisco... Very little information on this one so far, but according to a report on Sailing Anarchy, it was a new Oceanis being delivered north for the Strictly Sail Show in Oakland later this month... Ooops...

the lack of info on this one is curious, not even LATITUDE 38 has picked this story up yet... I fully expect internet search experts like my friend SG to get to work, and nail down some of the hard facts on this one... (grin)

Then, just last night, this Catana multihull went on the reef in West Bay, Roatan... Not much info on this one either, although some have said it apparently came adrift from its mooring after midnight, and despite the efforts of other cruisers nearby, they couldn't get her off the reef, and she is now breaking up...

Damn...
