Sat and talked with Richard Woods( english multi hull designer) two years ago

about when he and a crew abandoned a 35 foot cat in Bay of Tehuanapec a few years ago and all the arm chair pundits were claiming "it wasn't that bad" etc.

He said the lady flying the CG chopper told them she had to hover at 100 feet, rather than the normal 50-60 feet (due to waves), and was flying at 60 knots to hold position. This on about day four of the storm.

You never really under stand til you are there. I've never had to be taken off a boat, and hope to never have the experience, but I HAVE been in a few situations where I wished to HELL I was elsewhere

Tell ya who I have respect for- those guys who climb out of a perfectly good chopper, lower themselves into storm seas, to rescue folks. Cajones like basket balls!!!
