irrespondsible knuckleheads on a local level

Weather forecast: Gale warnings for Lake Erie near shore, high wind warnings for the lake shore, current water temp 41*. Wind out of the East, pushing ice floes from the eastern end of Lake Erie through the channel into Presque Isle Bay.

What part of that would make you decide that it was a good evening to go sailing?

At 7pm last night a 911 call went to the USCG for persons in the water just off the breakwall of our club. Their sailboat capsized in the high winds dumping everyone in the water. Fortunately for them there are a few powerboats launched already, one came out of the marina next door and pulled the people out of the water. The CG is currently investigating. The only positive thing is that they had life vests on or I suspect it would have been much worse. The boat home port was reported to be Erie Yacht Club which is at the far end of the bay from us.
