Hypothetically speaking, if you were going to retire

and continue boating (although not necessarily sailing)...... considering your future boat handling limitations, maintenance limitations, fixed income, slip and storage fees and boating area (in our case Lake Erie) what kind/size boat would you be looking at today?

I was at the cabin all weekend and of course, thought about the boat waiting to be re-commissioned. I know that being retired is supposed to give you the time to do all of the things you didn't have time to do when you were working. I was also thinking about the related factors listed above and what might be the ideal size and type of boat. Having a few more feet than we have now might be nice although each foot is that much more to wax, bottom paint and otherwise maintain. I would like to think that we would take a run south but I'm pretty sure that will never happen. Our travels here would likely be day trips between yacht clubs rather than many days at sea. Some of the recent retirees and sailboat owners at our club are finding that a powerboat is more to their liking now because of the ability to run the local canals (local as in the Great Lakes, both east and north of us). Perhaps some of you will say "the boat you have now" is the ideal one? I suppose that could be true for us as well, but I'm not sure.
