Propane.
In Response To: How do you keep the varnish from skimming over in the can? ()
I shoot a little propane into the varnish can before putting on the lid (don't light the torch). The propane seems to keep any residual air away from the liquid surface. I'm always surprised to open a can from last season and find no skin.
