While we want the halyard on the jib tight... it is never so tight as to induce vertical wrinkles... and the furler always works.

If you are setting your halyard so tight that you get a long vertical wrinkle just inside along the luff of the sail, you have the halyard too tight.

Also, are you tightening the halyard while the sail is out, or in?
