I'm sure leaks were the first of 10,000 questions the boatbuilders wrestled with.

No way Joel Whites son would send out a new boat knowing the ports would leak. 
And an architect must have seen a zillion leaking windows by the time they reach Gehry's age.
It would be interesting to know how they built the 'ports'. I'll try to find out.
