Now that I've lived with it a bit, I'm liking it. I can't say it's as well made as Yamaha or Tohatsu engines of larger displacement that I own, but it does the job. Lack of reverse gear (swiveling 360-degrees) is a bit hokey, but at least it has neutral. No shallow water drive setting either but I improvised with a short length of 2x2 wood that can be inserted between shaft and mount to allow the tilted motor to be used in forward.
The big pros are in lifting it on and off the dinghy. It can be done one-handed with a lifting strap installed. Goes a long way on a tank of TruFuel. (I try to avoid using ethanol in small engines). I top it off once per day and that's good for a long time at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I haven't tested the limit but I'm guessing 3 or 4 hours. So long as you never want to get on plane it does the job.
