I confess I never thought about it before....until now. On a fiberglass boat I'd likely not worry about it. On a wooden boat/deck it would be more in my thoughts. But even so, on a 32' boat I sailed on a lot with ply decks covered with burlap bedded in and coated with Aerobol and the boat had thousands of miles offshore and inland and never a problem with that issue.

Guess I wouldn't worry about it would be my conclusion at this point in time. But I could easily be wrong...
