Tom, I used 1/2 inch copper tubing, flattened and drilled out the ends and cut threads into the lead keel and the solid fiberglass skeg. If I hit something solid it should snap off. I coated the tubing with zink paint and put bottom paint over the zink. After 5 weeks in Belfast Bay it was still clean. For good measure I added a zink to each end of the tubing. I have sailed over dozens of lobster pots and powered over a few and so far not snagged one. Previously I had trashed my driveline twice.
